full professor

 at ETH Zurich

Prof. Paola Picotti is a full professor at ETH Zurich and the director of the Institute of Molecular Systems Biology of ETH Zurich. Picotti earned her PhD in biotechnology from the University of Padua in 2006 before joining the group of Ruedi Aebersold at ETH Zurich as a postdoctoral fellow. In 2011, she was appointed assistant professor at ETH Zurich, and subsequently associate professor in 2017 and full professor in 2022 at the same institution. Her group develops mass spectrometry-based technologies for proteome analysis and applies these tools to study the impact of protein conformational changes in health and disease. A major contribution of the Picotti group is the development of limited proteolysis–mass spectrometry, an approach that enables the simultaneous, in situ analysis of perturbation-induced structural changes across thousands of proteins with complex biological samples.
