Axon collaboration with Affymetrix to develop instrument to scan future GeneChip®

Axon Instruments, Inc. and Affymetrix, Inc. have entered into a collaboration for the development of an instrument to scan a future generation of Affymetrix GeneChip® microarrays. Based on Axon's ImageXpress™ automated cellular screening platform, the new instrument will scan GeneChip arrays formatted in multi-well plates, a high-throughput array solution currently in early development at Affymetrix Research Laboratories. Axon also plan to use ImageXpress technology to also enable four-color scanning of Affymetrix GeneChip microarrays and array plates. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
